Sometimes referred to by one of the major brand names: Styrofoam and Foamular, as craft foam, or simply as 'polystyrene', polystyrene foam is available in various densities:
Low density polystyrene foam, usually white, is frequently used as a packing material either in the form of moulded inserts or as chips. Denser varieties are most commonly employed in the building industry as thermal insulation.
